[About Josh Oakes]

Professionally, I’m happy when I’m building things and solving problems. In the past, this has been the Service Department of an Apple Specialist, Web Apps for Higher Education, Programs for Palm and Windows Mobile, saltwater pearls, user interfaces, right-sized business processes, among other things.
I’m spending a lot of time designing games right now. Developing card games combines many interests and provides plenty of challenges as well. The first of my games is about to enter art production, so you’ll see it on the blog soon.
I am ostensibly an amatuer photographer. What I lack in vision and creativity I make up for in ridiculous technical knowledge. So at least I am able to answer questions for my photographer friends, who are all brilliant people.
If you’re read my blog or followed me on The Twitter, you’ve already come to realize I am a highly analytical cynic (in the original greek sense) out of a generalized desire for the world to be a place where things are not unbearably stupid. If you care–and why would you–I’m an INTJ.
Sadly, I am not the Josh Oakes who writes about beer; fortunately, I am also not the Josh Oakes who hosts a television fishing program. Other than that I am simply Josh Oakes.
Past Projects
For a while after relocating to Nashville I was writing a blog called California Diaspora.
I blogged a photography road trip from California to Nashville in Winter 08.
I have a BA in English from California Polytechnic SLO. The department website hasn’t changed since I graduated in 2000.
