Early Stage Product

If turning great ideas into great products were easy, the world would have fewer terrible products. From concept to pre-scale, I help organizations prioritize and build digital products for the right audiences.

Building new products.

Coming up with good ideas easy. Turning those ideas into products—that’s the real trick.

CEOs and Founders operate at a very high level. Executers—the designers, developers, sales, and marketing teams—have to work at a very detailed level. Fractional Product Leadership takes the big-picture, beat-the-completion, conquer-the-world vision and translates it into something that the executors can build and run.

Building internal products.

If building digital products isn’t your primary business, taking on a product build could be a huge opportunity—or a colossal mistake.

Internal products—for use by your organization or by partners—can be a significant boon. The challenge is that your organizations is not structured to build products. Your most significant risks will be undefined process and overfitting your product, both of which lead to high costs and late delivery. External product leadership can help mitigate those risks and ensure you will actually ship a useful product.

“This seemed straightforward when we started, but the more we think about it, the more complex it gets. We need to cut this Gordian Knot and figure out how to start.”

Product Definition

Product Definition is a high input, high impact 90-day process that takes you from your idea on a whiteboard to a Product Manifest. It’s a great precursor to launching your internal initiative, shopping development partners, or pursuing funding.

This process can be challenging for organizations without full buy-in or with functional gaps, so it is not recommended for all situations.

“I have this under control, but I’d like to have a Batphone just in case.”

Product Advisor

Creating products is a journey into the unknown, and it never hurts to have someone to call. Product Advisory is a low commitment engagement that gives your leaders regular check-ins and accountability as well as a “batphone” when they need some perspective.

“I have a big vision and need someone to help me drive it through completion.”

Fractional Product Leadership

Fractional Product Leadership is an excellent approach to product development for organizations that have a product to build, but that do not have dedicated and experienced product leadership. It works in new venture, internal product, and first product scenarios.
